happy new year!

January 1, 2007

And a good riddance to 2006 — a year which as far as I’m concerned outstayed its welcome by about three months. I’m quite looking forward to 2007, if only because I just drank a nice cup of good, strong coffee.

My resolutions for this year are to reduce my carbon footprint, be sparing with my use of exclamation marks, and eat more cake.

Well, good luck. I hope you find 2007 acceptable to your taste.

    Happy new year’s’s.

I’m speeding along on a toboggan ride of cashew nuts and coffee.

In 2007 I’ve already wired up a Freeview box and not crashed a car, which is more than enough success for one year.

Everything else will be a bonus. Therefore, my resolutions are: eat more cashew nuts; drink more coffee; go to the shop and buy some pasta; wash my clothes; watch something on a digital television channel; have a beer.

So far this year I have quit tobacco and alcohol which, while not a massive achievement (yet), should make the next two months easier. I’m less excited to see the back of 2006 than you; personally I’m a bit wary of 2007, with at most a sense of cautious optimism. We’ll see, I guess.

    Current projects include:
    – trying to give a shit about my job again
    – trying to write new music so as to get my band back on its feet again
    – trying to keep motivated on those two.

    Motivation’s a theme, it seems.

    See you soon, I hope.

Those resolutions sound like good ones. I too am wary of 2007, Mr. Mark, but it’s nice to have a new, blank stretch of time to play with. I certainly hope you get your band back on its feet again, because I have yet to see one of your famous live performances.

Yes, see you soon I hope.

Mr. Andrew: ‘Have a beer’ is a particularly admirable resolution. Good luck with that one.

Happy new year Nick (and indirectly Andrew)
I hope you had a good Christmas.
I have good feelings about 2007 and I too would like to reduce by carbon footprint.
So far in 2007 I have managed to return to Jersey – which I did much quicker than my suitcase…

Hello Stuart! And a Happy New Year to you too. How’s Jersey been so far? Oh, and Australia… hope you had a good time there, too! It doesn’t seem fair racing against your suitcase, though. Did it really stand a chance?

yeah, seems 2006 was shit for everyone i know. here`s hoping 2007 offers something better!

less exclamation marks… that`s a great one, i might adopt it myself.

Yeah, 2006 does seem to have been a fairly rubbish one generally. What was particularly infuriating about it for me was that it got off to a great start, was promising to become a properly brilliant year, and then just went comprehensively, perversely, and almost gleefully wonky.

Exclamation marks. Not very manly, are they? I bet Hemingway didn’t use them. I think I once heard somewhere that Graham Greene hated them too. So yeah: Death to exclamation marks!!
